Tasty, Tiny and Just Too Good to Live Without

Why a tiny pouch of sugar free coffee syrup is redefining what a sweet treat looks and feels like.

It was a cold, dreary, and very wet Wednesday. Gloom, rain, and wind filled the air. Even the shortest distance of a walk to my classes had me looking like I had decided to take a shower in my clothes…

It was truly the perfect excuse to use the good old college excuse and reasoning for skipping your classes for the day. You know the “take a day off, skip your class, sleep in while you can, because after this, in the real world, you're looking at taking one of your precious PTO days for a day of rest and a look of disappointment from your manager the next time you roll up 15 minutes late to a corporate job”

Hence, to say the weather was really the only excuse I needed to skip my classes for the day, let alone my 4 pm class that ends at 5:50. Especially after a morning of work, two classes, a work meeting, a drive back to my apartment where even just look of my bed with the sound of the pouring rain hitting the concret pavemnt outisde my window could both put me to sleep in seconds. Needless to say, getting back up after a 45-minute cat nap and heading to my 4 pm classes was not on my bingo card.

In times like this, it’s when I’m in the most desperate need for anything and everything to get me up and out of my bed or off my couch. I need something that will get me excited, get my butt up, give me an extra boost of energy, and satisfy my need for a little extra liveliness inside me, followed by a little moment of savored joy. I need something to get me over that and through that 3 pm slump.

What do I want? I want what everyone else wants (or at least I think). You know what I’m talking about. That afternoon, at 3 pm moment. The median between lunch and our log-off time. The moment after a long day at work, where we can have a slice of joy, heaven, if you will, to savor our sweet little afternoon pick-me-up. That’s what I’m talking about.

When the clock strikes 3 pm, and we can finally crack open a crisp and refreshing can of Diet Coke, pour it over ice, add a little fresh lime, and appreciate it. It gets us through those last few hours of our day before clocking out. That’s what I want.

Needless to say, I crave those little moments throughout my day because they add elevation. Those things, like a crisp Diet Coke or a sweet little iced latte, give me positive moments throughout my day that I can hold onto.

Today, that moment and my version of a 3 pm crisp Diet Coke was my iced latte. This wasn’t a regular latte for me, it was a latte made from home with a new innovative coffee syrup I had recently purchased and hadn’t opened. Now this, this isn’t like any other coffee syrup. The coffee syrups where the main ingredients are sugar, dyes, chemicals, and whatever else kind of poison they put in it are. This sweetener redefines what an afternoon sweet treat looks and feels like. This is truly unlike any other sweetener out there. And it’s called Poca.

Poca is the sweet accessory to pair with your coffee. It’s a zero-sugar, zero-calorie, zero-alcohol, and zero-artificial flavors product. But most importantly, it has zero effects of a sugar to spike to a crash-out scenario. So you can enjoy your afternoon, your sweet treat, and not have to worry about the effects later on.

BONUS POINTS: Poca’s products not only have zero sugar, but they’ve also been able to crack the code on how to add ingredients to a product that actually benefits you. Chicory Root Fiber is a powerful prebiotic that feeds good gut bacteria to help improve your digestion, boost satiety, and help to stabilize blood sugar.

Not only am I beyond impressed that the founders were able to formulate a product that isn’t filled with a bunch of sugar, chemicals, or dyes, but they found a way to add an ingredient that actually benefits me? The best of both worlds!

Most coffee syrups come in a bottle or jar, right? Those products are created to support coffee shops and people who have time to make their coffee from home. Great. But what about those on the go?

For those who still want a sliver of sweetness, like a 3 pm pistachio latte in between back-to-back meetings. Or those who might be traveling for work, yet don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on overpriced airport drinks. For those who might be trying to cut back on sugar yet still want to enjoy the simple sweet pleasures their lattes and matchas bring them, Poca is the perfect pick.

The inspiration behind Poca is personal. "We made Poca for the ladies who do it all, and just want their morning coffee to feel like a special moment," says Founder Emily Bischwitz. Because no one should ever have to sacrifice their special moments for something that’s subpar.

Founder Hillary Coles also adds, "We started Poca because we wanted our everyday drinks to feel like a little treat, without the sugar crash."

That’s another reason why I’ve come to love Poca. They're not sacrificing one for the other. They're giving what consumers have always wanted, something that caters to all of their needs, where they can have both sweetness and convenience, without feeling like sh*t.

POCA is fulfilling consumers' wants and serving their unmet needs beyond simply just being a tasty, tiny sweetener in a pouch.

If you couldn't already tell by my enthusiasm, I am truly obsessed with this product and the women behind it. So naturally, this past Wednesday afternoon, when I was in desperate need of a little jolt of joy, Poca was the perfect pick-me-up.
